Telepathy

Telepathy:to communicate information from one mind to another, and is one form of extra-sensory perception or anomalous cognition. This information is generally reported as being "received" in the same form as that from the conventional senses.

I am a big fan of X-Men, but more importantly one of my favorite characters was Jean Grey. She had the power to talk to others using the meta-human mental capacities of her mind. She also had the same ability to read other's mind. The same way we might "read" a person's mindset by observing their body language.

Can you imagine the communication barrier that could be lifted if people were allowed some access to the other's mind?

There would be fewer disagreements, less confusion, and more effective communication. Innocent criminals who were charged and convicted could be set free using a telepathy analysis. I mean the benefits could be endless. But what if I had this ability to read minds.

I would use to weed out people in my life that are superficial, fake, etc. I could see their true motives. When my closest friends hide things from, I would know it. When there's a female, I'm interested in, I can tell if she's likes me or wants me to disappear. There would be no mind games, excuse the pun. I could see through the flirtatious person, who really just wants attention. I could say things to encourage those who are down. I could say the Right things to avoid offending anyone. The benefits just seem boundless. If you know what your boss needs before she even says it, what better way to suck up?

Unfortunately, though human senses are not capable of such. However, there is the study of body language, non-verbal communication. There are people who are really good at that kind of thing. Making out a person's personality just by observing their body language. As one the old adage goes: “Actions speak louder than words". Hopefully, I can get better at this so I can build better relationships with people and see people not from their inflated words, but by their actions and such. That way I wont be so naive to people and the human psyche, although I am fairly okay at measuring a person.

Still, it would be nice to have telepathy and even telekinesis. I wouldn't be like Carrie though and kill people for ridiculing me. Or be like the "fiery" girl in Stephen King's Firestarter. I would use my powers for the benefit of mankind and maybe for a profit too. I said maybe. I have to earn a sufficient living somehow, right?

Hey, I thought I was the only one who's thought of these things.
I bet the US government has mind-reading technology they don't want us knowing about.
That sounds like something they'd do.
