Liquid Sunshine

It seems that my home state of South Carolina is about to get harsh treatment from two major storms, Tropical Storm Bonnie and Hurricane Charlie. Liz and I were saying how the meteorology community should have named the storms Bonnie and Clyde. How fitting that would be.

Right now, it's raining and thundering. As the janitor at works says, it's not rain, it's liquid sunshine.

The forecast for South Carolina calls for drenching rains and possible tornados. Maybe tomorrow I wont have to come to work. Even if my boss says there will work tomorrow, I could always call in and say that I need today off so that I can board down my windows for the incoming storm(s). Seriously, I hope that no one gets hurt and nothing gets damaged. Hurricanes can be devastating for the loss of life and the loss of homes involved in most cases. I personally would never want to experience the death of a loved one from the ill effects of a hurricane or even the loss of my home.

Just in case anyone was wondering where I live in South Carolina, I inhabit a place called Blair. It's a fairly rural small community, with a many creeks and a large reservoir nearby. To me, it's home, to others it's a minute speck on the map. Sometimes it doesn't even show up for its small size. It's about 25 miles north of Columbia, the capital of South Carolina. So there you go. That’s my habitat.

I hope the lights don't go out at work or at home.
