I saw the Oscars last night and I have to admit that I actually enjoyed it. I thought Chris Rock was hilarious. Some people would disagree. The skit with Adam Sandler, with Chris Rock pretending to be Catherine Zeta Jones reading the teleprompter was funny too. I'm glad that The Incrediables won an Oscar for best animated feature; I saw the movie three times within a 24 hour period; it was very good, trust me. It was nice seeing Morgan Freeman finally win an Oscar, he was long overdue. I've always thought that he played a very convincing actor. Jamie Fox? Yep, he won, I guess he deserved it but I also I guess I need to actually watch the movie, Ray . I'm not really an Oscar watching person. Usually, I just read the results the next day. This time was an exception attributed mainly to the comical presence of Chris Rock. I'm sick of seeing Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal host every single year.
But the Oscars remind me of something else. They remind me when I was in Elementary school, the award programs for kids that did good jobs on their report card. And the Honor Roll Award goes to Kevis Wadlington. I remember in the Fifth Grade, I was the envy of almost the entire class. I had got so many awards in so many categories. Like Perfect Attendance, Best Student Citizen, Outstanding work in Language Arts, Consecutive Honor Roll for the year, etc. This trend continue until of course high school, but not college. In college, you might get a little certificate that says you are on the President's List. But there's no ceremony. At least, I was invited to one. I think in Elementary school with respect Award programs, there should be more categories included like Best Bully, Outstanding performance in P.E., Outstanding loud and wild behavior during Recess, Best performance as a teacher's pet, Best Job at failing a class, Teacher of the Year (where I live, the district picks this, Although I have to say that the students have a better perspective)
And Like the Oscars, the students should be able give their acceptance speeches. In retrospect, This is what my acceptance speech would have been in the Fifth grade during an Awards Ceremony:
"I just have to say that I am very honored to be on the honor roll right now. I would like to thank my Teacher, Mrs. Clark. You are mean teacher who sometimes smell like smoke, but you always pushed me more than the other students. I would like to thank my student body. I know that someone of you don't like me right but I could care less. Maybe one day, just one day, you will be smarter than me. But not today. I would like to thank the Principles, Mrs. Henry and Mr. Clark. Finally, I would like to thank the idiots and dean bats out there for making me into a certified overachiever. Without you, I would not be here receiving this most coveted award. Keep doing what you are doing, which is nothing. Thank you.”
Sounds egotistical doesn't it?

Personally, I didn't watch The Oscars nor do I care about this or anything like this(like the Acadamey Awards or the Grammys or whatever).
I don't go out of my way to watch stuff like this.
But if you're bored and there's nothing else constructive to do and there's nothing else good on TV anway, then why not?
Don't let me deter you,BTW.
Always Yours,
Diane
