The Good Things in Life

I was backtracking my email and I found this email about "The Best Things in Life". I decided to change the title to “The Good Things in Life” because these things can bring happiness, however, it's not permanent. In most cases, it's fleeting happiness and contentment. I believe one should be more concerned about long-lasting happiness and not just "quickies". No, pun intended.
I also provided some commentary on a select few.

The Good Things in Life
Laughing so hard your face hurts. (Did you know that when you laugh you burn about 3 ounces of calories or was that 3 calories. I forget which one, but the important thing is that laughing can help in weight control.)

A hot shower.

No lines at the Super Wal-Mart. (It should be noted that persons with more and 10 items should not be in the express checkout lane.)

A special glance. ( It depends on who and where.)

Getting mail.( Except when they are bills or spam.)

Taking a drive on a pretty road. ( In a nice sports converitble?)

Hearing your favorite song on the radio.(What would I do without a radio in my car??)

Lying in bed listening to the rain outside. (The rain just doesn't do anything for me.)

Hot towels out of the dryer. ( I remember as a kid wrapping myself myself in towels as they left the dryer. I also like the feel of warm paper fresh out of the printer/copier.)

Finding the sweater you want is on sale for half price. ( I'm a sweater geek.)

Chocolate milkshake.

A long distance phone call. (They are even nicer if I don't have to pay.)

A bubble bath.( My bubbles usually last only about 2-3 minutes, then they are gone. What Gibbs?)

Giggling.

The beach. (The Beach is where I go to reflect, relax, and re-energize.)

Finding a $20 bill in your coat from last winter.(I have never found a $20 in my coat, but I have found a few measly dollar bills.)

Laughing at yourself. (It happens all the time to me. I am my own source of humor and comic relief.)

Midnight phone calls that last for hours. (My GF and I have set the record of talking on the phone for five hours until 4 in the morning. That was fun.)

Running through sprinklers.(This is something I have yet to experience.)

Laughing for absolutely no reason at all.

Having someone tell you that you're beautiful.( Beautiful is not the word, but maybe cute and handsome and maybe sexy, and maybe pulchritudinous and maybe... ok, that's enough. I don't want to be labeled egomaniacal or superficial.)

Laughing at an inside joke.

Friends. (Gotta love friends)

Falling in love for the first time.

Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.

Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.

Making new friends or spending time with old ones.

Playing with a new puppy.

Late night talks with your roommate that keeps you from sleeping.

Having someone play with your hair. (Ok, this doesn't work for me since I am in lack of hair.)

Sweet dreams. ( I had this nice dream that I was Superman with the all the superpowers.)

Hot chocolate. (Nothing beats drinking hot chocolate on a cold winter day. Warning: Don't drink too fast might lose temporarly lose sense of taste.)

Road trips with friends. ( I am known as the Road TriP master. Maybe when I get older I can take a cross-country trip in an R.V.)

Swinging on swings. (This summer, Liz, Jen, and myself decided to "play" in the children's park during a lunch break from work. I guess that really shows my maturity, doesn't it?)

Watching a good movie cuddled up on a couch with someone you love. (Gotta love these.)

Going to a really good concert. (Sadly, I have yet to experience an actual concert. I would like to see Sarah Mclachlan and Dave Matthews Band in a live concert. )

Getting butterflies in your stomach every time you see that one person.

Making eye contact with a cute stranger. ( Making eye contact with a cute stranger, preferably a "legal" female, is now off-limits in accordance to the "implicit" constitution my GF has set out.)

Winning a really competitive game.

Making chocolate chip cookies!

Seeing smiles and hearing laughter from your friends.(How many of us want to be around friends that are always depressing and dismal.)

Holding hands with someone you care about.(Preferably my GF.)

Discovering that love is unconditional and stronger than time.

Riding the best roller coasters over and over. (This hasn't always worked for me; one time I became severely nauseated after riding something called the “Spaceship” the second time. I haven’t heard the end of it.)
Hugging the person you love.( I'm not ashamed to hug my guy friends...well, maybe sometimes, but the thought is still there.)

Watching the _expression someone's face as they open a much-desired present from you.

Watching the sunrise. (I also like watching the sun make concluding trails of yellow and reddish lines in the sky is an interesting visual experience during sunset.)

Getting out of bed every morning and thanking God for another beautiful day. ( I agree wholly. This is probably the most important one listed.)

Having friends you know you can cry on or talk to about your deepest problems. (“Real" friends are hard to find and so I treasure the true friends I do have.)
