Movie and Television Happenings (Science Fiction) Volume 1

This year is culminating to become a major blockbuster spring and summer season. This could be a season were hollywood movies post record movie tickets revenues or it could tank like the stock market from 2001-2002 due to the tech bubble implosion. Here are my previews and hints at what movies will make the cut monetary and the ones that will tank.,

The Movies

Spiderman 3: There's a lot riding on this. You have three villians. One is old school(Sandman) and one appeals to the new school(Venom). And another one that looks plain silly(Harry the Goblin?) With Spiderman in a black suit and a new thickening plot, I'm sure this one will deliver at the box office. The question is: can we take That 70's Show former actor seriously as a major villian in a major multi-billionaire franchise. To be honest, I didn't take him serious in the movie "In Good Company". We will see what happens. It will make big bucks.

Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End: Of course this movie will deliver. The last movie in the series Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest left audiences with a cliffhanger, but based on the newly released trailer, we know that Capt. Sparrow survives. The question is how and where is he now? I look forward to watching Keira Knightly,um...I mean Pirates of Carribean for action, adventure and that girl I shouldn't name. It will make big bucks.

Shrek the Third: It will be a hit without question, but I have concern that the box office revenue will not follow suit since this movie is released with two other blockbusters in the same month. I know it will be successful only because of Puss the Cat and Donkey. Yeah, Shrek is funny too, I guess. It might make big bucks.

Transformers: I have one thing to say to Michael Bay: "Don't mess this up!" I'm a little worried since the movie focuses on a sizeable number of human characters. Any true Transformers fan knows that most of the classics focus on the struggles of the good bots and the bad bots with the exception of little minor human character, namely Spike. This movie will depict the classic plot as alien robots invade Earth with one the good side and the other as the conqueres. I hope Michael Bay did his homework and watch the classic movie. It will make big bucks.

Fantasic Four: Rise of the Silver: This one could be the finisher. The first movie was awful. I had almost no action scenes in it. I feel that it will be a refurbished sequel with no point, no plot, and no box office potential. At least Jessical Alba stars as Suzie.... At least. It will suck.
Television...I love Television.
Television
Battlestar Galictica: This is one of the best sci-fi shows on television. Great writing, good and believable characters. Cool space dog fights. This is a nice way to fill the void left the by absence of the Star Trek franchise. Boy do I miss Star Trek...with new all-new episodes. I think I missed the season finale two weeks ago. Thrats, if only I had a way to legally watch satellite television without paying.
Lost: This show may have lost some of it viewers, but I still enjoy it, sometimes. I can't get over the fact that Desmond can sense the future in flashes and that the others have a "submarine" to travel back and forth from the Island to the outside world. The first part of the third season was very slow and awkward, but I sense that the plot is starting to pick up. I can wait for the season finale. Possible Spoiler: Charlie dies!!!
Babylon 5: I remember watching this underrated series in my younger years in the 90's. Now that I am a full-fledge adult, I actually get some of the off color jokes and mature plots. I decided to forgo the dismal 1st season to watch the second second on DVD. All I have to say is that the Shadows are ah coming.........
This concludes another insightful moment at science fiction in the movies and television.

Dismal 1st season!? You take that back right now! How dare you speak ill of anything B5! But seriously, make yourself rewatch it. It's fun to see these tiny little moments that made no sense when first aired but foreshadowed (no pun intended) things to come. B5 is truely one of those series that the creator really did have mapped out from the beginning, like I had hoped Lost would be.

Wazzup, Kevinator? This is Steve.
